“In September 2010, Bell Let’s Talk began a new conversation about Canada’s mental health. At that time, most people were not talking about mental illness. But the numbers spoke volumes about the urgent need for action. Millions of Canadians, including leading personalities engaged in an open discussion about mental illness, offering new ideas and hope for those who struggle, with numbers growing every year.”
Today, January 25th, is #BellLetsTalk day… Use your social media platforms and speak about how mental illness has affected you, or someone you know… There’s also a special Snapchat filter you can use
If you’re a Bell/Bell Alliant customer, for ever text you send or call you make, ¢5 more will be donated to the cause (Canadian Mental Health programs)
I know Tumblr is very American-centric in a lot of its content, so I truly do hope that this gets seen by Canadian users…

This post will be reposted multiple times today as it’s an issue very close to me and also relates back to issues of being black and how mental health issues are “not a thing”, especially if you’re coming from a west Indian background– you’re haunted or Obeah tek yuh… You need to go church (lmao which? The Baptist? The Anglican? The Penticostal? The Presbyterian?)…
It’s so disheartening knowing that you could want to reach out to your family but you can’t bc you know it’ll make you feel frustrated and worse than you currently do… Sometimes your friends, for as much as they care, they may not quite /get/ it…
You’re not alone, we’re all here for you.
